#UNROOT DOLL DAY SPA Events is a venture of 8 year old Sakinah Bates and her business partner Debbie McDonald launched on June 15, 2018. Sakinah after going to the hair salon would start to bring her own dolls with her each time to get tips, tools and strategies for the hair maintenance and hair care for her own dolls.

He holds the BA in English from South Carolina State University. After several years of work at public libraries, and arts organizations, he has established himself as a freelance consultant, delivering storytelling, program planning, and arts education throughout the Northeast, as The Greatheart Griot (gree-o). Alvin Benjamin Carter Jr. is a preacher of The Gospel, husband, father, and educator and is a mainstay in the Greater Hartford arts Community. In addition to his duties as the drummer with The Afro-Semitic Experience and bandleader for R&B legend Kenny Hamber, he currently leads his own groups LEGACY: The Keepers of Tradition and The Alvin Carter Project. Known as “Babafemi” to his friends, his diverse music experience includes but is not limited to jazz, r&b, blues, latin jazz, gospel, west afrikan djembe and world beat. Over the years he has performed with a “who’s who” of hometown favorites such as Nita Zarif, Nick Mathis,Tony Harrington and Touch, Charmagne, legendary guitarist Wayne Boyd, People of Goodwil,l vibraphone giant Jay Hoggard and  and many others. Alvin is also as an “in-demand” stage and production manager having managed many events such as The Litchfield Jazz Festival, The Wesleyan Folk Music Festival, The Legends Show of Baltimore Maryland, The Sigourney Square Family Festival, and Family Day at Keney Park and The Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz.

Malik Champlain has overcome tremendous obstacles to become a highly sought after Motivational Speaker. Malik is the author of "Live Your Dreams, Not Your Fears" an inspirational best-seller. Malik has been recognized by the Hartford Business Journal 40 under 40 2017 award recipient. Malik has been seen presenting on NBC, FOX News, and as a Tedx Hartford speaker. The NAACP has acknowledged his community service efforts by awarding Malik with the Martin Luther King Legacy Award 2015 and Humanitarian Award 2010.   Malik resides in the Greater Hartford area with his wife Rosalyn Champlain and two daughters.

Free Parking Saturday on the Street

500 Main Street ● Hartford, CT 0103 www.hplct.org Parking Information During regular business hours, the Downtown Library has limited free parking on the Arch Street garage ramp. There is also metered parking available on the Arch Street ramp and on Main Street, Sheldon and Arch Streets surrounding the Library. The public cannot park in any designated municipal employee parking spaces at any time. Only after 6:00 p.m. can Library guests park on the Arch Street parking deck for free. There are a number of parking garages in close proximity to Hartford Public Library. One block east of the Hartford Public Library is the Front Street South garage; this is a pay-to-park facility and is open daily at 6 a.m. Additional Parking at Sheldon Street/Prospect Street Parking Lot For visitors, volunteers, interns and contracted employees: You will likely need to pay for parking when you are visiting, working or volunteering at Hartford Public Library. If you choose to park at the municipal lot at Sheldon and Prospect Streets, you will only be able to pay for your parking by a debit card or credit card. You will need to manually enter your license plate number as you enter and exit the lot. Your license number will be used to estimate the amount you owe for parking. You will need to pay that amount by credit or debit card in order to have the gate/bar move to allow you to leave.

Please have your license plate number handy so you won’t need to get out of the car to read it! The lot is patrolled by a roving security vehicle up to 10:00 p.m. Costs in the lot are: During the weekday: $2.50 for the first hour $2.50 for the second hour Free for the third hour Free for the fourth hour $1.00 for the fifth hour $1.00 for the sixth hour $0.50 for the seventh hour $0.50 for the eighth hour Maximum parking for a weekday - $8.00 For the weekend: $1.50 for the first hour $1.50 for the second hour Free for the third hour Free for the fourth hour $0.50 for the fifth hour $0.50 for the sixth hour $0.50 for the seventh hour $0.50 for the eighth hour Maximum parking for weekend day - $5.00
